Police Station Representation

You have the right to immediate, free and independent legal advice from a Solicitor of your choice at the police station. This right can only be withheld in exceptional circumstances.

Legal advice at the police station is critically important. The outcome of criminal proceedings is very often affected by statements made immediately following arrest. If you have been arrested, or know someone who has been detained, it is crucial to get expert legal advice as soon as possible. It is always in your best interests to obtain legal advice before any police interview.

We are available to help you. We can attend to represent you at the police station free of charge 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We will never delay your time at the police station.

We will always discuss your options, respect your instructions and advise you on how best to proceed. We will speak to the Investigating Officer to obtain as much detail as possible regarding the allegation against you, which we will then discuss with you in private before you are interviewed. We will always be with you during your interview and will advise you throughout the investigation process.

Similarly, if you are contacted by the police with an invitation to attend voluntarily for interview by appointment, we can make advance enquiries on your behalf, advise you on the best course of action and, if appropriate, attend with you at the police station for your interview.
